Karachi: As many as 57 debate
contestants (students) from 16 universities of Sindh both public sector
and private sector participated in 14th All Pakistan Inter
University debate contest for award of Allama Iqbal Shield 2011, Sindh
region, organized by the Higher Education Commission Regional Center
Karachi at the Dawood College of Engineering & Technology Karachi on
Saturday.

Khoro, graced the event as the Chief Guest and distributed the cash
prices, shields, and certificates among the debate contestant (student).
The top three winners (both in English
and Urdu debate contests) were awarded cash prizes and shields and also
one top scoring team and one overall winner each in English and Urdu
debate contests (six students) qualified for the final round of All
Pakistan Inter University debate contest for award of Allam Iqbal shield
to be held at Higher Education Commission, Islamabad this year.
First, second, and third positions in
English debating contest were secured by Saima Fatima, Sir Syed
University of Engineering & Technology Karachi, Fiza Iqbal Panhwar,
University of Sindh, Jamshoro and Alifia Liaqat Ali Dairkee, Iqra
University Karachi, respectively.
In the Urdu debating contest first,
second, and third positions were secured by Noman Aslam, NED University
of Engineering & Technology Karachi, Huda Baloch, University of
Sindh Jamshoro and BinteZohra, NED University of Engineering &
Technology, Karachi, respectively.

Khoro praised the Higher Education Commission in organizing such an
enormous debating contest event at Sindh level.
He also admired the participant
Universities and debate contestants, on their effective participation
and desired that students and the universities need to effectively
participate in the co-curricular activities along with curricular
activities and highlighted the importance of the co-curricular
activities. He praised the active participation of female students and
also congratulated that out of six winners of the event five positions
won by the female students.
