PESHAWAR: Ecologists Friday feared coastal areas’ coming under water as glaciers in the polar caps were melting far too fast than expected, Geo News reported.

Experts cast these apprehensions while talking to a seminar on ‘impacts of climate change’ here.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Minister, Wajid Ali Khan, who was the chief guest at the roundtable, stressed on planting as many trees as the nation can to head off the negative impacts of climate change, which was a global threat.

He said 40-50 percent of the glaciers had melted down in the last ten years overflowing the lakes, which could lead to massive floods.
