Lahore: With his first film Hijrat, producer-director Farooq Mengal is another one to take part in the race of new emerging cinema of Pakistan. The impulsive revival of Pakistani cinema has heartened the film-makers indulge in various themes.
Farooq Mengal known in drama trails for producing and directing serials, Hijrat engages the critical subject of internally-displaced refugee campsite, with a further added love story.
Asad Zaman, a model turned actor, who is making his debut in this film, is given the role of Murad- a young-happy person who finds himself hurled into the world of pain and anger at usual. In these circumstances he falls for Jia, the field doctor which is played by model Rabia Butt, and is opened to elements of a different side of world and feelings. The actor Zaman features that while the film revolves around serious situations, it also presents sheer entertainment on other side.
“Hijrat presents a complete entertainment”, says Zaman, the leading actor in the film. The film portrays the life of a man who is in hunt for a good time in life and experiences how life can change moods and can be so unpredictable. The main angle of this film is not to lose hope in time of grave situations.

The film also stars experienced celebrities like Mareeha Safdar, Salma Agha and Nadeem Baig. The music of Hijrat is composed by Shair Ali Bagga and it will present songs from Ali Azmat, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Imran Aziz and Abida Parveen. As per noticing the great names, it seems that Mengal has cope to make a great team. Zaman also admits this point. He says that it is a great effort of bringing such a remarkable team on the set. There was eventually a chemistry created among all of us.
The producer-director of Hijrat has been working on the pre-production and script for almost a decade. The film shot its first part in Quetta and rest is to be in shot in Europe. The film is expected to be released next year.
